Advocating to Callous Listeners: Five (Not-So-Easy) Steps

1. Let Go of ‘Should,’ And Recognize ‘Is’

2. Identify Goals (Ahead of Time, if Possible)

3. Look for Carrots and/or Sticks

4. Offer a Carrot or Raise a Stick, and Preferably One that You Believe

5. Take Care of Yourself After the Rinse/Repeat Cycle Ends
